Born in Cremona on the 13th of March, 1966, as a child he was introduced to the world of artistic woodworking in his father's workshop, and to the study of music.
He received his diploma at the International Violin Making School of Cremona in 1984 and that same year, as violinist, passed the Fifth Year Exam at the Conservatory of Music of Udine.

Giovanni Battista Morassi was born in Udine in 1969. He began working with wood at a very young age. In 1986 he received his diploma from the Technical School of Hand-Crafts in Tarvisio (Udine).
In 1988 he moved to Cremona and attended the violinmaking school where he completed his diploma in 1992.
