Simeone Morassi

Born in Cremona on the 13th of March, 1966, as a child he was introduced to the world of artistic woodworking in his father's workshop, and to the study of music. He received his diploma at the International Violin Making School of Cremona in 1984 and that same year, as violist, passed the Fifth Year Exam at the Conservatory of Music of Udine.

His limited production is noted for the use of especially selected tonewoods, aged in excess of 20 years. Today is workshop is a popular meeting place for students at the violin making school in seek of guidance, as well as colleagues with which he compares his work and discusses experiences.

Simeone Morassi entered numerous international violin making competitions winning the First Prize and Gold Medal in the following competitions: 

  • Mittenwald 1989 - Germany
  • Poznan 1996 - Poland
  • Esztergom 2000 - Hungary
  • Nachod 2004 - Czech Republic
In addition, he has received various special prizes such as best varnish, best workmanship, and sound quality. Simeone Morassi ha also been invited to take part of the juries of the following competitions:

  • Luby 2005 - Czech Republic
  • Queretaro 2005 - Mexico

Exhibitions

Morassi has also taken part in numerous exhibitions in Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Paris, Frankfurt, Helsinky, etc. assisting and providing professional demostrations of the craft.
